Across the world we are seeing many cities re-building the nightlife and bar scene. With many leases expiring and changes of ownership in some spots you see many getting updated with much needed sound systems and lighting.
Angles (Remodeled & Reopened)
Angles in Oklahoma City is one of these nightclubs that came back from hibernation. The LGBTQ club actually is an historic spot. They not only put up a fun LED show on the outside of the building but have LED dancer boxes that we haven’t seen anywhere else in the country. We are so thrilled to have this club back as part of the scene on 39th street.
Is it just us or does everyone think the logo itself makes the place look fun. DJ Mike Strange has been a longtime staple at the club playing today and yesterdays dance hits. The former owner of the Copa in OKC is now the owner of Angles so you may see some of the same sexy bartenders. Although, if you want a stronger drink you need to walk a block down to Tramp’s…
Tramp’s OKC
The best patio (and strongest drinks) in Oklahoma City that people actually check into the patio is Tramp’s bar. It’s like a little Park which is what the video bar down the street used to be called.
Tramp’s has a jukebox where you can play music and dance throughout the bar if you wish or play darts or chat it up with your friends. You may not know that one hell of a patio is at another gay club down the street called Partners.
Partners
This OKC bar features a fire pit and large outdoor patio beyond that.
Partners has a contest on Tuesday nights where they give away $100 and they have dancers on Tuesdays and Saturdays. They have a DJ on some nights and plan on doing a country night soon with their huge dancefloor. Once a month or so they have a jockstrap party where you must RSVP on Facebook before attending which we hear gets wild. The problem is parking so you might want to take an Uber to the club.
The Boom
If you want drag in Oklahoma City this is the place to go. They have a packed drag show on Thursday nights. OKC’s best Off-The-Wall Dinner Theater, Cabaret, & Nightclub. The Boom Features female illusion shows, dinner theatre, karaoke, trivia and more! If traveling to OKC then make sure and check out their facebook to see the drink specials and times of the shows. Located at 2218 NW 39th St (across from Tramp’s).
Club 44 (New Club former Copa) To Re-Open Soon
Club 44 (formerly Copa and Exile) is at the location of the Copa in OKC inside the Habana gay resort. You can actually spend the night at the Habana hotel and walk around to most of these bars. Exile remodeled some while it was closed and recently had it’s opening on New Year’s Eve. You will find DJ Desire and two gogo dancers here on the weekends. This club has plenty of parking at the Habana Inn. Fridays are the new Latin night they are heavily promoting and Saturday nights seem to be more hip-hop based music although the format on Saturday seems to change each week according to locals while they try to figure out the right niche for the club.
Throwback to the COPA nightclub below during Pride in Oklahoma City:
OKC was one of the first cities to open the clubs without problems in the World following Coronavirus
Coronavirus Bar Opening Update 2020: Oklahoma City was one of the first cities that opened up without any problems now for two weekends since the Quarantine Stay-at-home started coming to and end. Angles and Tramps are both open but The Boom will remain closed until July. Club Exile is closed until June when they are planning a re-opening.
OKC also has a new gay nightclub that will open June 5th weekend named Club Touche on 2829 W. California Avenue. They claim to be Oklahoma’s new upscale Gay Club but are charging a $10 cover. Details below:
