With Hurricane Isaac there are many that are still undecided on traveling to New Orleans for the ever-popular Southern Decadence although it seems that Oz Nightclub plans to re-open at 8am tomorrow. Keep in mind that most flights departing for New Orleans will be hard to get and we have heard that both Southwest Airlines and American Airlines are not taking any new flights until Saturday. That pretty much takes half of the big weekend away. Chi Chi LaRue and big named DJs will be embracing NOLA this weekend as planned (so they say).
Many partygoers are searching for other destinations and there are many to pick from. Our first choice is Splash in Austin, TX. Splash which holds the daytime part of the party at Lake Travis is in an area called Hippie Hollow where you can bare all. Yes, it is the only Texas beach where you can go nude. The event features boats all tied up (not people) with party barges and a beach full of gays in the beautiful landscape of Lake Travis. The host hotel is the Embassy Suites in Downtown Austin which is walking distance to the bars. The main event will feature Roland Belmares be held at the Austin Music Hall and an after hours with DJ Seth Cooper. The local bars include Rain, Oil Can Harry’s, and Charlie’s. You can navigate the downtown area well just riding some of the bicycle taxis around with some hot college students driving you. The party closes out Sunday night with DJ Randy Bettis from NYC at Republic Live.
The other hottest party going on is a Matinee event. This is just not any circuit event it features someone performing I have been requesting for White Party Palm Springs but never get answered on… Adam Lambert. Matinee LA announced that American Idol’s Adam Lambert will star at its main event, taking place September 1 from 9pm to 4am at the LA Festival complex. Lambert appeared on stage in the L.A. production of the musical Wicked. He recently released Trespassing, his second studio album, following For Your Entertainment which debuted #1 on the Billboard 200. The event will also feature actor/singer Taryn Manning performing her new single “Send Me Your Loving,” and all-star Hector Fonseca and DJ J Louis from Matinee Spain. More info on this event on the AmazingFestival website.
If you wonder what the graphic with the hot twink is from… The 20 Something night at XL Nightclub which starts Thursday night to kick of Labor Day weekend. NYC’s newest nightclub and we stress the word club because it is big and not a lounge. It is also a great place to celebrate time off work over this long weekend.
Speaking of Thursday night the City of Dallas has a reason to go out to see Sharon Needles at a new joint called It’ll Do “Queen” night. They have a screaming dancefloor with pounding bass you can feel on your feet with a legendary DJ Ronnie Bruno and DJ Red Eye.
