One Mighty Weekend, The Parliament House, and The Official Gay Days 2020 weekend are all coming back in 2020.
We post each year about one of our favorite events held the first week of June called One Magical Weekend during Gay Days Orlando. One Magical Weekend at Walt Disney World includes three magical days at Disney plus great events such as daytime pool parties and nights full of music to heart pounding beats. Here you will see some of the hottest and funnest gays from around the world landing on the happiest place on earth. There are several parties and events that take place in the afternoons and evenings at the host hotel properties and other amazing venues at night and afterhours.
The first weekend of June each year – for the 30th year anniversary in 2020 – thousands and thousands of LGBTQ travelers from around the world will descend on Orlando at Walt Disney World Resorts for One Magical Weekend AND Gay Days official events.
Some of the hottest events include not only the pool parties but Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Waterpark where 6,000 guests will be dancing under the stars with International DJs.
MGM, Epcot or Universal instead of House of Blues?
What we hope to see in 2020 are more of a focus on Amusement Parks such as MGM, Epcot or Universal where we can ride the rides at night as a private party. This would be instead of the House of Blues venue. Because the party is in Orlando why not show off the rides!
More Fierce After-Hours?
We realize it will never be the huge Arabian Nights events it once was for after-hours during the big gay Orlando weekend but can we meet somewhere in between? The Cadabra after-hours really didn’t take off like we had thought it would. It would be amazing to move it to a venue where it feels more like a club setting than a ballroom inside a hotel. It was tons of fun but just not really up to the level it should be in 2020 for a 30th anniversary.
The Parliament House
We miss the days of the foam parties and all the porn stars outside for scandalous nights during the big “Gay Days” weekend. Bring back the foam parties and performances from acts such as Deborah Cox instead of focusing on only Rupaul’s drag race acts that can be seen any night of any day in any city.
“Gay Days” dilema
Gay Days(TM) dropped the ball when they changed their event to August 2019 then announced not long ago they would change it back in June come 2020. It will be interesting to see what they do to prove to everyone they still got it. You can read more here about how they missed a hotel booking and dropped the ball pretty badly!
Disney could hold its own actual official parade
While we have red shirt day we may get our own official pride parade day at Disney judging from what they did in Paris this year. Disney has been getting more and more progressive over the years and we can only hope they bring the pride parade to Orlando for 2020.
